To provide travelers to North American mountain resorts with the most complete resource
available on the Web, and to provide our customers with the best value possible for their
Internet marketing dollar.

Media Odyssey, Inc., the parent company of Mountain Resort Guides, Inc. was founded in June 1993. Its goal was to create the most comprehensive guide to US ski areas available. In 1994 SkiOdyssey, an interactive multimedia travel planner, was published on a CD-ROM. An online version, SkiOdyssey.com, supplemented the CD-ROM's multimedia features the following year. Additional titles - Ski-Guide.com, Snow-Guide.com, SkiResortGuide.com - followed and coverage was expanded to include Canadian resorts as well.
In 1999 a decision was made to split the company into two legal entities: Media Odyssey, Inc. focused on graphic design, web development and hosting; and SkiTown.com, Inc. which was responsible for publishing a growing network of ski and snowboard resort guides, not only as independent guides, but also on behalf of other companies that realized that SkiTown.com was the most comprehensive source of North American ski resort information. SkiTown.com published ski resort guides for AccuWeather, Intellicast, The Weather Network, SkiPress Magazine, FreeSkier Magazine, Powder and Snowboarder magazines, National Sports Network magazines, Moguls Ski and Snowboard Tours, Mountain Vacations and Travelocity.
Demands for information from visitors to the ski resort guides, and requests for additional services from clients continued to expand beyond snow season, so in 2003 SkiTown.com, Inc. changed its name to Mountain Resort Guides, Inc. to better reflect the larger scope of the business. In spite of the name changes, the mission remains largely the same as it was in 1993: "To provide our customers with the best value possible for their Internet marketing dollar, and to provide travelers to North American mountain resorts with the most complete resource available on the Web."
